Dilwale fever gripped the UK with the super stars of Bollywood descending to the streets of London once again for this amazing event. Not to film and act their way running through a scene of song and dance, but this time to promote the release of Dilwale on the 18th Dec 2015.
Featuring SRK – Shahrukh Khan, Kajol, Varun Dhawan, and Kriti Sanon, A2Z Photography & Cinematography had the pleasure of shooting these star at the official press conference and photo call. #dilwaleuktakeover dilwaleuktakeover hits London!
We sent Areez (our lead photographer from A2Z Photography & Cinematography) and below is his account of the day:
Arriving at the Montcalm Hotel in Marble Arch, early on Tuesday morning, I arrived 30 mins before our official photocall time, (little did I know that indians being indians this would run behind schedule)…. Apparently ( I heard when passing one of the assistant staff) – “Shahrukh Saheb is tired after his interview with This Morning and needs to rest for a few minutes before he comes down for the press conference” – meaning we had an hour to kill. (prep time!!) I waited for Momtaz from Asiana TV to arrive and confirm everything was in order for later, and when I saw her (in her usual bubbly manor) to say it was a relief, is an understatement. Nerves starting to set in, now was the time to hold composure and get the A game on. A quick instagram vid, a quick share on facebook and twitter and ready for action I went!
I set about setting up my remote trigger lighting using flash-benders, and prepped 2 cameras – both shooting with remote triggers, placed my light stands in situ, and joined the swarm of 20 paps (aka serpents in a pit) awaiting the stars arrival. I opted to place myself directly inline with the stars (behind the first line of paps) to avoid peculiar lines and angles and used my 6ft 2 height to shoot over the top of the serpent pit. Everyone calling out and vying for the attentions of Shahrukh Khan, Kajol, Varun Dhawan, and Kriti Sanon, my humble little voice was drowned out in amongst the other 20 shouting out. That being said, I was very happy with the results we managed to produce.
Immediately after the photocall began the press conference, and I was lucky enough to filter in (with my new friend Manj from Punjab 2000). It turned out that my Asiana Press Pass access granted me access to all elements of the press call and conference! BONUS!!…. so here we go with round two of shooting! The bonus round…… Capturing some great shots using our Canon 70-200 f2.8 IS L on the Canon 5dmk3 natural light, and no flash – (well to start with)…. for the first 20 mins all the photographers were behaving themselves and not shooting with flash….. then …. out of no where! Someone broke the rule….. then again…. then again…..right! My turn. somehow my flash fired every now and then….. wow…. the shots and results just went through the roof. My work here is done!
Relaxing at the back of the hall I listened in, and instagramed a bunch of pictures and videos on Shah Rukh discussing love! Wow… what a moment. THE SRK talking about love, here at this press conference, I happen to be in. Got to be worth an instagram! (instagram – @a2zphotographgy1)
As the stars left for their private one on one interviews, I left Momtaz and the Asiana Team to join Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon for the filming of the one on one. I really wish I had joined them, as the final export files supplied to us were distorted and size dimensioned to a width of 640pixels. (Wow! And this is from a professional production house…. I wont name the cuplrits!) SO from here we managed to upscale the footage and incorporate it in to a final piece and production for Asiana TV. See our footage below!:
Going forward Im looking forward to the release of Dilwale on the 18th December 2015 which is sure to be an international phenomenon and hit. It’s the first time SRK and Kajol are reconvening their personal love story since Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.
